They supply ethically raised, sustainable produced food to both restaurants and consumers.  “We started using SMS as a marketing tool a year after start-up and simultaneous to the purchase of our first truck” says Tim Elwin, Managing Director of Urban Food Market.</p>
<p>No stranger to the many benefits of mobile marketing, Tim comes from a digital background, has 14 years’ experience in the mobile space, initially creating mobile phone services and later, running a consultancy.</p>
<p>“Through the provision of two dedicated numbers – one for the wholesale side of our business, the other for the consumer side, we use SMSGlobal for promoting our mobile website and marketing through a mobile originated SMS coupon” added Elwin. “We promote our specials via Coupon and find mobile an effective tool to instantly communicate discounts to our loyal and valued customers”.</p>
<p>“Availability and service around the clock is what’s expected now”, says Tim. “The separate Dedicated Number supporting the wholesale business means that chefs can text us orders and receive a confirmation reply instantly”. <p>As the Marketing Manager of Melbourne’s most consistently best rated restaurants, Chris Cullen talked to SMSGlobal about this funky culinary destination, its use of SMS in operations and it’s recent SMS marketing undertaking for the purposes of launch and event information: “Pearl has been operating for over a decade”, said Chris.  “We started using SMS in terms of confirming reservations over 5 years ago and recently we began using SMS as part of our marketing mix”.</p>
<p>Chris is no stranger to the various uses of SMS and enjoys the immediacy which SMS brings to their patrons, “Communicating a message through mobile messaging is much quicker, cleaner, and more effective than through print mediums. Using the SMSGlobal platform as a tool to send out messages about special event notifications, we just sent out 5,000 mobile messages to our guests, promoting Go Go Bar as ‘now open and trading’” he said.</p>

<p>With trade commencing in 1999, Greener Cleaner began using SMS about 3 years ago. &#8220;We use bulk text messaging to remind customers that there&#8217;ll be a dry cleaning pick-up from their home or office the next day. This simple SMS message, in the form of a reminder, has helped Greener Cleaner grow its business and through its use, we achieve about 20% more business from existing customers&#8221; says Greener Cleaner business entrepreneur and owner, Kris Anderson.</p>
<p>&#8220;We have a Dedicated Phone Number for the business and we know that making contact easily means customers feel looked after&#8221; added Kris. &#8220;With a Dedicated Phone Number, customers can phone us and text us on the same number, and we always include a link at the end of each message which links customers to a particular cleaning tip on our website.&#8221;</p>
<p>Having tested a number of communication mediums, Kris is all too familiar with the positive metrics associated with SMS.  &#8220;People read SMS much sooner than any other notification and engaging our customers via SMS means no wasted time.  We also run a monthly clothing donation drive called &#8216;Rags to Riches&#8217; and notify our customers via mobile messaging.&#8221;</p>

<p>When asked about the type of mobile messaging Dent A Find conducts, Matt Calvitto, Dent A Find’s HR Recruitment Officer, explained that “because of the nature of our business, we have a high dependency on mobile communication.”</p>

<p>Tisha Lazaro, business creator and proprietor of this innovative online business, launched Mommy Cat only last week. SMSGlobal spoke to her about her first business venture.</p>
<p>“Mommy Cat was formed with designer tastes and shoe-string budgets in mind” says Tisha. “As a time-poor working mom, I found it difficult to find quality designer clothing for my daughter, Aiko.  Clothing that is comfortable, stylish and affordable for fast growing children just seemed to be too far and few between .  If it wasn&#8217;t the predictable pink or blue, it was too expensive, let alone too precious for everyday wear. I wanted to change that mentality, and launching Mommy Cat via an online, mobile world allowed me to do just that”.</p>
<p>Tisha, an Advertising Art Director is no stranger to bringing things together that work. She successfully marries visuals and ideas and launches <a href="http://www.mommycat.com.au/" target="_blank">www.mommycat.com.au</a>  just in time for Christmas 2011.</p>
<p>When asked why now, she candidly speaks about wanting to spend more time with 4 year old, Aiko (Japanese for ‘the loved one’) and how online shopping has surpassed traditional means, allowing access to things only available to those with the time and means to travel and shop.</p>
<p>“I appreciate that the population has gone mobile, so my sales growth strategy needed to reflect that” says Tisha. “I’ll be using mobile messaging to further enhance the Mommy Cat experience and will be integrating SMS as part of the delivery, notification and provision of product information process.  The implementation of a dedicated number will come next”.</p>
<p>“Quite simply, I like to be an advisory contact to my customers, no matter where they are in the world, and mobile messaging allows me to do that with an immediacy not found in any other form of communication”.</p>
<p>Now just to turn back the clock in time, so I can get into one of those lovely little designer frocks!</p>
